Small backstreet pub on Radnor Street, supposedly too small too fit a pool table. It was already open in 1939 and was converted to housing in 1995.

Chris and Terry

Most of Chris and Terry’s anecdotes date from the 80’s onward as this is when their children were grown up and they had time to go to the pub again. They were living on Salisbury Road at the time. However, they told me an amazing story about a night in the Radnor in 1972. It was in fact the day that their daughter Heather was being born at Freedom Fields Hospital. Terry had decided to go to the Radnor with a mate while Chris was in childbirth. The landlady was aware of this and refused to serve Terry until he knew whether he had had a boy or a girl. He eventually learned that he had had a girl and was served a drink…
